Cobblestone Creations Giveaway!

Welcome to my first Giveaway!!!

The Prizes

There are TWO prizes ~ one each for two lucky winners!

❄ The first prize is a lucky little potbelly mouse with his glittery shamrock and chunk of cheese.  He is made of a light green long pile cashmere with premium German glass eyes, horsehair whiskers and eyelashes, a white satin cording tail and two dainty green gingham bows.  Shhhhh . .  . don't tell him the cheese isn't real.  He, as with all Cobblestone Creations, will come with a hangtag, signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity and labeled gift box.

❄ The second prize is a pair of Bunny Slippers for the doll of your choice. They are made of white and pink cashmere with onxy bead eyes.

                   The dolls I have currently:

(and I say currently because we all know there will
be more dolls ~ there are always more dolls lol)
Kish dolls: Riley, Zsu Zse, Bitty Brynne
Tonner Dolls: Ellowyne Wilde, Tyler Wentworth,
Tiny Betsy McCall, Ann Estelle
Heidi Ott Dolls: Dollhouse Lady
Vogue Dolls: Ginny ~ both modern and retro
Original 18" American Girl

I'll even go a step further ~ if you have a similarly sized doll (under 18 inches), you may send me a tracing of the doll's foot along with a few simple dimensions and I'll make a pair to fit.  I have had great success in doing this.

Seeding the Cloud . . . .

. . . . the label cloud that is. You know, that area at the top of the blog that contains all the labels I've used. They're clickable ~ so you can easily find the posts that interest you. And it seemed like a good way to spell out exactly what Cobblestone Creations is all about. Ok ~ here we go:

Cobblestone Circle Mice ~ these 2-3 inch tall mice, along with their clothing and accessories, are fashioned lovingly by my hand with great attention to detail resulting in a one of a kind heirloom quality piece. Through their stories we further our insight into the everyday magic of daily lives in the peaceful hamlet of Cobblestone Circle. You can find a map of the village on my website and yes, as with any author, there are parts of me in each of them.

Potbelly and Holiday Mice ~ Again 2-3 inches tall, these mice are either sporting festive holiday attire, embracing a cherished seasonal token or munching their favorite snack. Some are dressed and others are simply wee potbellied dumplings.

Cobblestone Tails ~More mice! But these are from the pages of nursery rhymes, fables & fairy tales. These beloved characters will awaken those childhood memories of enchanted far off lands where wishes were granted, spells were cast, simple lessons were learned & happy endings were bountiful.

Sweet Pea's Tea Party Darlin's ~ A tribute to the simplest of childhood joys ~ savoring an intimate moment and imaginary meal with your favorite doll. As varied as the myriad of friends in every little girl’s room, the Tea Party Darlin’s are dressed in their best, ready for an afternoon of cuddles, crumpets and secrets. A more rare occurrence than my other items because each one is to be so totally unique ~ and we all know that takes a great deal of time.

Cobblestone Couture ~ I'll admit it ~ I started sewing for collectible dolls because those mice are so darn tiny!!! Currently my own collection consists of
Kish dolls: Riley, Zsu Zse, Bitty Brynne and Kishlet
Tonner Dolls: Ellowyne Wilde, Tyler Wentworth, Tiny Betsy McCall and Ann Estelle
Heidi Ott Dolls: Dollhouse Lady and Gentleman
Vogue Dolls: Ginny ~ both modern and retro

Dollhouse Minis~ Occasionally I create miniatures for dollhouses including some teeny tiny cross stitch pieces.

Commissions ~ I welcome custom orders when I can. I am always amazed by what customers ask for and enjoy working closely with them to make sure their custom made Cobblestone Creation is precisely what they want.

Where do you find inspiration?

A few years ago I stumbled upon a rather intriguing pool of photo on Flickr ~ Found Photographs ~ where folks post photos they have literally found ~ in old books, on the street, in antique shops, etc.  Looking at them can either take me back to the days when I too wore those ridiculous fashions or woke up to a similarly decorated Christmas tree ~ but more often I am drawn to the photos from an age ago and I wonder what that person would think of their image touching someone in our time.  Those older photos seem somehow more soulful and I find stories forming in my mind as I look into their eyes ~ and yes sometimes those stories wind up in Cobblestone Circle.

I am especially amused by the facial expressions in group photos.

Here's a small sampling of what I saw today:

Ok ~ sometimes they just make me scratch my head . . . . .

~ Meet Fiona Merrimuffin of Cobblestone Circle ~

Every Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon, Fiona Merrimuffin has a soothing cup of herbal tea. She does this to calm herself because every Tuesday afternoon at3 o’clock ~ or there about ~ Jeremy Chickering shows up on her doorstep for his piano lesson.

Heaven knows there is quite a bit of energy in that child that just needs to get out. Fiona is waiting patiently for the day when he will be able to sit on the piano stool without spinning or fidgeting or looking out the window every few minutes.

She has seen it time after time ~ the day when it finally clicks for them. The day children understand that they are capable of producing beautiful music ~ that they can begin to explore different types of music and thus express themselves in a way unlike any other. She is confident this will happen for Jeremy ~ though it may take a bit longer for him. She knows in her heart that children always rise to the expectations set for them if given the support they need.

Fiona’s thoughts are interrupted by a screech and a crash in her front yard. Oh dear! As she looks out the window in time to see Jeremy righting his bicycle, she makes a mental note to call her handyman, Jasper Porterfield, in the morning.

It’s going to take much more than burlap to protect her azaleas from the
Winter winds and Jeremy Chickering.

You may visit the auction for Fiona, which ends

Homecoming

Every once in a while I am privileged to receive a peek into the lives of my little mouse friends after they leave me. Recently I was able to catch up with the Van Hornes of Cobblestone Circle ~ Dottie and her husband, the Mayor, Charles.

As some of you may remember, when last seen, Dottie was bundled in her Winter coat out for a day of shopping ~ and Charles was celebrating the new train route agreement last Summer. In order to display them together my customer came up with this solution:

Charles is greeting Dottie at the door as she returns home!

I understand this charming doorway was made especially for the Van Hornes ~ look at the details! They've even got a wreath on the door and a darling little door mat! Well done indeed and thanks for sharing!!!

A Long Winter's Nap

Yes, I know ~ yet another pair of pajamas for Bitty Belle. What can I say?   Those darling snowmen buttons just spoke to me!

Shhhh ~ or maybe it has to do with how long I am in my pjs each day ~ working from home has it’s advantages . . . . .

This set includes the pajamas, blue fluffy slippers and fleece blanket.
