Hansel and Gretel

Inspired yet again by the Grimm Brothers,
I bring you my version of
Hansel and Gretel

They come with a darling candy house!

There are many photos on their sale page
and I hope you have a moment
to enjoy a peek at them.

It doesn't happen often,
but these two stole my heart.

On my work table . . .

Just popping in to share what’s currently on my work table.  Lately there has been a LOT on there, but I think I’ve finally got one thing completed so I am anxious to show you.

This is the house I’ve been constructing for what seems like forever.   And perhaps constructing isn’t an accurate way to put it.   The basic structure itself is a purchased item.   It was a plain wooden house that I’ve painted and decorated to accompany the next mice from the Cobblestone Tails series ~ Hansel and Gretel.

Those two haven’t even been started yet so I’ve pictured the house here with Rumplestiltskin ~ who btw is still available on my website.

But before I even think about choosing fur and fabric for Hansel and Gretel I need to finish the other wee ones who are in various stages:

* two new Cobblestone Circle Citizens (These are almost done and will hopefully debut this week!  Tillie Cobb is in her new  snowsuit and Penny Randall is getting Valentine cards in her mailbox.)

* a Potbelly mouse for Valentine’s Day

* another tea party set of mice

*two commissions (very close to done!!!)

*a new size mouse that will fit into a 1/2 scale dollhouse (1:24)

* the two darling bears who have been in pieces waiting patiently for about three months for me to complete them!

Oh, who am I trying to kid ~ there’s no way I can wait that long to finish the mice for this adorable house.

Best get back to sewing right now!!!

ps.  Not sure if I should be proud of this fact or not ~ but I was able to completely decorate this candy house without buying a single thing!  It all came from my stashes baubles, paints and trims.  Oh dear . . .

Rumplestiltskin

My first mouse for 2012 is part of the
Cobblestone Tails Collection.

Inspired by the Grimm Brothers' famous tale,
I bring to you my version of
Rumplestiltskin!
He is now available on my website:

He is just over 3 inches tall and comes with
this 1:12 scale spinning wheel.
Layaway is always available!

Have I been watching too much
Once Upon a Time and Grimm on TV?

Two more Christmas Mice

I had two new mice for the holidays available this morning.
I say had, because they were both
sold with 6 minutes of my announcing them to my email list!

~ Mrs. Dorcas Silk ~
You can read her story,
and see more pics of her lovely tree
on my website by clicking here.

I was very happy to find some twinkle lights that
are the right size for a mouse-sized tree.
I think next year there may need to be a
city mouse/country mouse set for the holidays.
What do you think?

And ~ the other that sold this morning ~

The Little Match Girl
inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson tale

A bit of this, a bit of that . . .

This week I've dabbled in the occupations of stone mason and cobbler ~ as in shoes, not peach.  These endeavors have resulted in three mice and two bears that are now available on my website.

The first set is Jack and Jill for my Cobblestone Tails series.
SOLD!

Their well started out as a wooden hexagon box ~ but after a few hours with stones and gorilla glue it is now a lovely well for them.  As the gorilla glue cures, it foams and expands and looks exactly like mortar between the stones.  I used epoxy for the water in the bucket.

The second item was inspired by a fairy slipper exchange that has been going on on a few of the blogs I follow.  I didn't partake in the swap (this time) but can see this easily becoming a seasonal item for me ~ I am especially exited to try one for Winter!
Here is Autumn Fairy Slipper Mouse.
~ SOLD ~

Lastly ~ YES!  I have finally completed the bear with the baby carriage.  She was quite the challenge and looks completely different from what I had originally in mind.
I'll save that design for another bear.

SOLD!

I also received more pictures of the Cobblestone Mice shelves one of my buyers is creating.  Here's the scene for Madam Mousica ~ the gypsy fortune teller.

Isn't it just grand!!!

Seeding the Cloud . . . .

. . . . the label cloud that is. You know, that area at the top of the blog that contains all the labels I've used. They're clickable ~ so you can easily find the posts that interest you. And it seemed like a good way to spell out exactly what Cobblestone Creations is all about. Ok ~ here we go:

Cobblestone Circle Mice ~ these 2-3 inch tall mice, along with their clothing and accessories, are fashioned lovingly by my hand with great attention to detail resulting in a one of a kind heirloom quality piece. Through their stories we further our insight into the everyday magic of daily lives in the peaceful hamlet of Cobblestone Circle. You can find a map of the village on my website and yes, as with any author, there are parts of me in each of them.

Potbelly and Holiday Mice ~ Again 2-3 inches tall, these mice are either sporting festive holiday attire, embracing a cherished seasonal token or munching their favorite snack. Some are dressed and others are simply wee potbellied dumplings.

Cobblestone Tails ~More mice! But these are from the pages of nursery rhymes, fables & fairy tales. These beloved characters will awaken those childhood memories of enchanted far off lands where wishes were granted, spells were cast, simple lessons were learned & happy endings were bountiful.

Sweet Pea's Tea Party Darlin's ~ A tribute to the simplest of childhood joys ~ savoring an intimate moment and imaginary meal with your favorite doll. As varied as the myriad of friends in every little girl’s room, the Tea Party Darlin’s are dressed in their best, ready for an afternoon of cuddles, crumpets and secrets. A more rare occurrence than my other items because each one is to be so totally unique ~ and we all know that takes a great deal of time.

Cobblestone Couture ~ I'll admit it ~ I started sewing for collectible dolls because those mice are so darn tiny!!! Currently my own collection consists of
Kish dolls: Riley, Zsu Zse, Bitty Brynne and Kishlet
Tonner Dolls: Ellowyne Wilde, Tyler Wentworth, Tiny Betsy McCall and Ann Estelle
Heidi Ott Dolls: Dollhouse Lady and Gentleman
Vogue Dolls: Ginny ~ both modern and retro

Dollhouse Minis~ Occasionally I create miniatures for dollhouses including some teeny tiny cross stitch pieces.

Commissions ~ I welcome custom orders when I can. I am always amazed by what customers ask for and enjoy working closely with them to make sure their custom made Cobblestone Creation is precisely what they want.
