Latest Commission

I was thrilled to be able to create this
darling wee mouse that was commissioned
for a collector's granddaughter
who plays a grand piano.

It is a 1:12 scale piece and will be a birthday gift.

Redressed!

Recently I was commissioned to redress a
family of dollhouse dolls.

Here is the before picture.

And here is the after.

The customer is quite pleased with how
they turned out and the dolls will now
fit into the decor of her lovely Victorian dollhouse.

If she sends photos of them in the house,
I will gladly share them here.

Mrs. Ricks

Here is a commissioned mouse that is to take her place on a Widow's Walk display ~ desperately searching for any sight of her husband's ship coming back into port.

My camera didn't do a very good job of capturing the three tiny tears on her left cheek. The hem on her dress is wired to position into a wind blown look. If I received photos of her in the display I will share them with you here.

Here is Cappy Ricks (whoI made years ago)
the husband she is soon to join.

I've come a long way . . .

Today I want to share with you a couple of pictures
of dolls I have made and/or costumed.

This first set was made circa 1991, I think.
At that time our daughter would watch the TV series
David the Gnome every day while eating her lunch
before going off to kindergarten.
David and Lisa were a big part of her world
so I made these dolls for her.
I am happy to report these 2 rustic clothespin
creations are still on display in her home.

Last week I shipped off two 1:12 scale dolls that
I re-costumed on commission.
The gentleman was to be based on
Nels Oleson from the Little House series.
I think they turned out very well, and most importantly,
the collector was pleased.

It was a fun change from the mice and bears
and all I kept thinking was how very
LARGE
these dolls were at just about
twice the size of my mice.

My worktable is quite full of more
commissions this week, but I hope to have
two new mice to show you in a few days.
They will be a tea party set:
a Lady Mouse with her teapot
and matching potbelly baby mouse
in the tiny matching teacup.

The Hill Family Commission

It is indeed a rare occurrence for me to have an entire family of mice on my work table at one time.  But this week I completed a commission for five tiny Dollhouse Dainties, and I am so pleased with how they turned out that I must share them with you. They range in size from 1 ½ to just under 2 ¾ inches tall.

They are the Hill family, now on their way to live in a half scale dollhouse that is being made for them in Colorado.

These are the parents, Leif and Rose.
They have two little girls, Violet
and Baby Holly.
Grandma Iris resides with them as well.
There may be plans for a son to join the group ~ I'll keep you posted.

I encountered many challenges bringing this group to life.  So many things that work on a 3 inch mouse are just not the same when they shrink down to this size.  I learned quite a bit and am looking forward to the next teeny tiny ones.
But for now, I think it's time to tackle something bigger.  I'm currently working with some gorgeous white Tissavel fur for my next fashion bear, who will be in memory of an historic event that took place 100 years ago.  Any guesses?

How sweet is this!

I've been meaning to share this with you for some time now.

I received this lovely card in the mail from a customer thanking me for agreeing to create a dollhouse family of mice for her.  This is before we even started working out the details for her little mice!

What a pleasure it is to work with such a thougthful person.
Makes it all so much more fun.

Alice's Dormouse

Wanted to share a commissioned piece I did in conjunction with
 Carolee Clark of

Carolee painted the teapot and
I created the mouse for a very special collector.

This is the first mouse I've made of this type
and I do believe I have fallen in love with this cuddly guy
enough to make more like him.

Stay tuned!

I am gobsmacked! But don't worry ~ that's a good thing.

Gobsmacked? Yeah, it was a new word for me too ~ guess the good Sisters at Mon Valley Catholic didn't do such a good job on my vocabulary after all.  But thanks to the international flair that enters our lives via online friends, I can say in true British slang that I am completely astounded and amazed by what I found in my inbox yesterday afternoon.

Those of you who follow the activates in Cobblestone Circle will no doubt remember Rolf Silke, the bartender at The Burgundy Turtle Pub.
Rolf Silke

He quickly found a new home and prompted a commission
for a bar customer, namely one Alastair Smythe.
Alastair Smythe

One of the requirements was for Alastair to be able to place his foot on a bar rail . . . because . . . there is now an actual bar!

The detail is amazing! Look at those tiny beer taps!!!

The gal who has Rolf and Alastair (and quite a few other citizens) has commissioned artist Gerald Lusk to create a shadow box of sorts that will feature changeable setting for various mice from Cobblestone Circle!

I cannot tell you how much this touches my heart to see my little friends in 'homes' of their own.  I hope I continue to get updates of this project and will share them here as I do.

Well done, Gee!!!!

My latest commissioned piece ~ Miss Scarlett

Had to share my latest commissioned piece ~ everyone's favorite southern bell, Miss Scarlett, is dressed for the BBQ.

I have been working on her literally for the past 3 months ~ greatly expanded my sewing technique repertoire.

And I kinda like that she will be residing just outside of Rhett's hometown of Charleston, SC.

My latest commissioned piece

Inspired by the beloved character from Gone With The Wind  . . .

                 ~ Mammy ~

Had to share a few pics of my latest commissioned mouse.

Even got to do some carving to create the tiny rolling pin.

She was such fun to make!

Seeding the Cloud . . . .

. . . . the label cloud that is. You know, that area at the top of the blog that contains all the labels I've used. They're clickable ~ so you can easily find the posts that interest you. And it seemed like a good way to spell out exactly what Cobblestone Creations is all about. Ok ~ here we go:

Cobblestone Circle Mice ~ these 2-3 inch tall mice, along with their clothing and accessories, are fashioned lovingly by my hand with great attention to detail resulting in a one of a kind heirloom quality piece. Through their stories we further our insight into the everyday magic of daily lives in the peaceful hamlet of Cobblestone Circle. You can find a map of the village on my website and yes, as with any author, there are parts of me in each of them.

Potbelly and Holiday Mice ~ Again 2-3 inches tall, these mice are either sporting festive holiday attire, embracing a cherished seasonal token or munching their favorite snack. Some are dressed and others are simply wee potbellied dumplings.

Cobblestone Tails ~More mice! But these are from the pages of nursery rhymes, fables & fairy tales. These beloved characters will awaken those childhood memories of enchanted far off lands where wishes were granted, spells were cast, simple lessons were learned & happy endings were bountiful.

Sweet Pea's Tea Party Darlin's ~ A tribute to the simplest of childhood joys ~ savoring an intimate moment and imaginary meal with your favorite doll. As varied as the myriad of friends in every little girl’s room, the Tea Party Darlin’s are dressed in their best, ready for an afternoon of cuddles, crumpets and secrets. A more rare occurrence than my other items because each one is to be so totally unique ~ and we all know that takes a great deal of time.

Cobblestone Couture ~ I'll admit it ~ I started sewing for collectible dolls because those mice are so darn tiny!!! Currently my own collection consists of
Kish dolls: Riley, Zsu Zse, Bitty Brynne and Kishlet
Tonner Dolls: Ellowyne Wilde, Tyler Wentworth, Tiny Betsy McCall and Ann Estelle
Heidi Ott Dolls: Dollhouse Lady and Gentleman
Vogue Dolls: Ginny ~ both modern and retro

Dollhouse Minis~ Occasionally I create miniatures for dollhouses including some teeny tiny cross stitch pieces.

Commissions ~ I welcome custom orders when I can. I am always amazed by what customers ask for and enjoy working closely with them to make sure their custom made Cobblestone Creation is precisely what they want.
